What if children would have to take care of their own science education at school (no adults surrounding)?

Trying to think of an extreme situation of children needing to do things by themselves without any adults around, we couldn’t resist thinking on the famous novel and movie “The Lord of The Flies” that tells the story of a group of children who after a plane accident they are left by themselves in a desert island, without any grow up around. In this setting lets imagine that those children have a problem which only solution possible is a scientific experiment and its conclusion, what would they do? Would they be able to achieve it without any help?

We have a group of children alone in a village, they have a lot of resources like computers, tablets, Internet and science material for experimenting. Only for the curiosity of children, they are going to experiment to understand the environment that surrounds them.

First of all it’s possible that every child would have an opinion and an idea, and they would try to do them by themselves making the solving of the problem, but this procedure will be a total mess. With some time, the most likely is that children would make working groups among the ones who have the same idea or a similar one; in each group could be a leader who organizes the other's’ functions and efforts in order to go in the same direction. In the actual story we can differentiate two groups with two different leaders, so we can move that fact to what would happen if they must had to do some scientific research. Continuing with the example, and keeping in mind they are in a desert island, probably the children would end up doing the proper experiment to solve their issue, so it’s easy to think that if instead of being on a desert island this children would be anywhere more civilized, like a school, what would happen?

Probably, nowadays children would try to look in the internet what to do in their situation, and then with all the information, they would be able to experiment it and discover that, right like what they thought, that works. The main problems  would be if children reach erroneous conclusions about what they are experimenting or it can appear discussions about if the explanation is right or wrong .
So, we think that children have enough resources and facilities to take their own sciences education, because they have imagination to try to experiment by themselves or in small groups, and also they have the new technologies which can help them to achieve the objectives.
